Office of the Provost
As I begin my first year as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, I’m greatly impressed with the breadth of the academic program here as well as the dedication of the faculty and staff to the support of learning, scholarship, and creative activity. The ties to Acadiana are unmistakable, and create a foundation for a campus culture of community engagement, research and inquiry that has global connections and engagement. Thus our academic programs strive to serve the local community through research and service while preparing students to make a difference throughout the world. Whether you are a first generation student who might initially find a university a daunting environment or a graduate student who is excited to expand the boundaries of current knowledge in one of our highly regarded doctoral programs, our academic programs are geared for student success.
At the same time, the faculty and research staff at the University provide a dynamic environment involving research and creative activities that make a difference in all of our lives. UL at Lafayette is a leading center for research not only in Louisiana, but in the nation. If you are a faculty member or scholar looking for a vibrant home that has a strong sense of community, I encourage you to pursue opportunities to join us.
This is an exciting time to be a part of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The campus is undergoing an impressive transformation with facilities construction, renovation of buildings, and the makeover of the main campus quad. I’m very pleased to be a part of a vibrant community of faculty, students, staff, and alumni who are seeing their University grow in a way that supports learning in so many different modes. If you haven’t yet joined us, I invite you to do so. If you are a part of the Ragin’ Cajuns® family, thank you for giving me the opportunity to join you.
