Faculty Awards

The University recognizes the contributiosn of its faculty through a number of faculty award programs. The Distingusihed Professor Award recognizes faculty for there contributions in teaching research and service. This award program began in 1965 with five faculty being honored which included: Ms Cora Savoy, Dr. Amos Simpson, Dr. Thomas Francis Maher, Dr. Ray P Authement and Dr. Richard Traxler. To date over 150 faculty have been recognized for their accmplishment by receiving the Distinguised Professor Award. In 1992 the University established the Excellence in Teaching Award which was renamed in 2009 to the Dr. Ray P. Authment Excellence in Teaching Award. Over 25 faculty have received this award. The Advising Award was estblished in 1999 and expanded in 2005, this award recognizes faculty for their contributions in guiding students through the student's degree program and on to their chosen professions. In 2013 the University established its Service Learning award with an inaguaral group of 5 faculty recognized for engaging students into the community within the context of specific classes.
